Because of my passion for my genealogy, I have been working on creating a group cruise around or to Italy with Italian genealogist specialists available.

In 1906, my great great grandfather Gallina came to the US to find work during the famine in Sicily. He came over and found work and then sent for his family a year later. When my great grandmother was old enough to be married, they arranged a marriage between her and a man in Sicily and sent for him to come to the US. My great grandfather Favaro came over and married my great grandmother in 1916.

As a third generation Italian-American, I have done a lot of genealogy which included sending requests off to Sicily in Italian. Although, I did not know a word of Italian when I began my quest to look for my ancestors, I soon learned a few important words, and then a few more, and before long, I was writing without a translator.
